Italy Atlas:
La Dolce Vita!
Italy Atlas:
La Dolce Vita!
Located in Southern Europe and bathed by the Mediterranean Sea, Italy is conformed by a somewhat curious peninsula and island territory. Its geography and history are as extensive as they are variable, where we find all kinds of scenes and passages. The local tradition, distinguished by regions from north to south, is widely known for its gastronomy and art! Isn’t it?

Italy by expectation.
As the warmer season is ideal for coastal lovers that will make the most of the Ligurian region, winter, on the contrary, presents great opportunities if we ascend in altitude to the Apennines. Anyway, it’s always a pleasure to step on Italia!
Remember: as one of the places with the highest tourist rates, the summer months (Jun-Sep) tend to be overcrowded. So, as colder the weather, the more appropriate for tranquil city tourism.
From flights connecting the different Italian cities at a reasonable price (always book them in advance) to pretty cheap buses, you’ll be able to move all around Italy easily! And if you aim to explore the cities, public transport, bicycles and walking would let you reach every corner!
After a road trip around Northern Italy and being lucky to have Italian relatives who helped us immerse ourselves in the local culture and daily life, we can assure you that we never felt threatened or unsafe. It’s true that you need to watch out for pickpockets in some big cities such as Rome or Milan, but, as we always say, you should always beware of the place you are at and keep an eye on the circumstances.
Italy by exchange.
Although the official language is Italian, other dialects like Tuscan or Sicilian among others (around 34), are also part of its linguistic identity.
The currency in Italy is the Euro (EUR). Below, you’ll find a quick guide for the equivalences in some currencies from around the world (Euro EUR, Swiss Frank CHF, Pound Sterlin GBP, Swedish Krone SEK, United States Dollar USD, Australian Dollar AUD, South African Rand ZAR, and Japanese Yen JPY):
1 EUR equals 1 EUR | 1 CHF equals 1,05 EUR | 1 GBP equals 1,15 EUR | 1 SEK equals 0,08 EUR
1 USD equals 0,94 EUR | 1 AUD equals 0,59 EUR | 1 ZAR equals 0,04 EUR | 1 JPY equals 0,006 EUR
* Exchange from October 2023.

Beware of details.
The most important details you should think of when traveling never change. So, if you want to be ahead of any problem that you could encounter while abroad, check these 5 unforgettables:
· Credit Cards & ATMs: The first thing you should consider if your usual currency isn’t Euro (EUR), is to use an app (you can contact us for further info) that allows you to exchange and withdraw money from the ATMs at the minimum rate. If this isn’t an option, make sure to exchange either at your bank or as soon as you arrive in Italy, and always bring some cash with you, just perhaps. If possible, it’d be wise to use your credit card whenever you get the chance.
· Type of plug: In Italy, the plugs are type C, F, and L, with a standard voltage of 230V and a standard frequency of 50Hz. We recommend buying a universal adapter (make sure it has surge protection).
· Documents: The required documents to travel to Italy will depend on your home country, but we always recommend bringing your ID, driver’s license, and passport with you, as you never know what can happen and if you’ll need them! Also, make sure to have a scanned copy of every important document on your phone and a printed copy on your luggage.
· Insurance: First, call your bank and ask them what your credit card or account type covers when purchasing a trip with it. You have already done this but want to take out travel insurance that covers every aspect of your trip? Then keep in mind that the insurance type and price will depend on the place and length of the trip, the people traveling and their age, and the activities you plan to do.
· Medical prevention: It is necessary to check the medical terms of the country or even continent you are traveling to upon entrance. Depending on your home country, you may be required to fulfill some medical terms such as vaccines or tests. Also, make sure you bring a basic first aid kit and prescription medications you may need (every medication must come with the relevant prescription and instructions).
